October 1, 2011 was a spectacular day and full of fun for everyone who attended the 2nd Annual PortFest event at the Port of Redwood City. Close to 2000 festival goers enjoyed sail boat rides, Bay tours, working port trolly tours, arts & craft vendors, live music, kid activities, and delicious food and drink.

The festivities kicked off with the 2nd annual Civic Challenge. The City Council shell rowing team was once again victorious over the Planning Department in a heated race for the much coveted Golden Oar.

Opening Ceremonies included special guests Vice Mayor Alicia Aguiere and San Mateo County Supervisor Jerry Hill and featured the Sea Scouts Color Guard and West Bay Community Band.

A well-stocked kids' area included a bounce house sponsored by Pete's Harbor, and activity tables sponsored by the Redwood City Library and Redwood City Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department. Nearby, adults were entertained by the high-energy sound of the Groove Kings, also within earshot of the Rotary Beer Garden, serving beer from Devil's Canyon Brewing Company and wine from La Honda Winery.

A wide range of exhibitors provided goods for sale, food and drink, and educational experiences for guests. See everyone who came.
